Benedict Nikolai Bakaj
Social Sciences, Advertising Agent
17, June, 2076
Among the first things someone would notice is his smile, bright and wide. It seemingly never eases from his overly freckled face. His brown hair is wild and untameable, the curls unable to adhere to a flatiron, and a set of gunmetal blue eyes to match. Benedict is the tallest in his family, standing at an even 5”10’. To the surprise of anyone who knows him, he is typically found in clothes three sizes too large for him of questionable age. He’s rarely found in shoes that aren’t sandals, and there’s a thin scar on the corner of his left side nostril.

Music, food, being among friends, books, starting (harmless) drama, being the center of attention
Too much down time, idleness, being called Ben, loneliness
The first time his sister was brought home from the hospital, she was so small, Benedict had to protect her from hardship.
When he came out to his parents, they reacted badly. He regrets ever saying anything, as it was the main contributing factor to the tension in his household.
Commitment has never been something he was good at. He dreads the prospect of an eventual partnership.
Have a family
Ideally, Benedict enjoys people who are people persons, who enjoy going out and doing things. He craves physical affection as much as he enjoys sexual attraction. Someone who he can have a lengthy conversation with in the middle of the night over coffee. Most importantly, someone who can see right through his bullshit and keep him humble. He prefers the company of men.
It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn’t use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like ‘What about lunch?’
-A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh
Benedict is the firstborn child of the young, newly married Natasha and Michael Bakaj. Neither of his parents were in high standing, nor particularly ambitious. A clerk in a gas station and a secretary. They were happy with the life they had. Benedict, however, seemed determined to change all of it. Growing up, he was quickly known as a troublemaker. Too much energy pent up in activities that didn’t interest him. He was a challenge to raise and swiftly created problems for the young couple. In turn, Benedict was raised strictly in an attempt to put a rein on his wild behavior.
When he was eight, his sister Lilian was born. Her birth seemed to finally straighten him out, though he continued to lag behind in school. There was a pressure for him to succeed, not only to improve his mediocre grades, but also to be an example for his sister.
By contrast, his sister was looked upon with reverence. Finally, the perfect child. She was well mannered, sweet, and did well in schooling. She was nothing like the little hellion her brother could be.
At some point in his adolescence, Benedict began to notice a growing interest in boys. He quickly learned to keep discreet after mentioning it casually to his parents. His relationship with his father soured and the two have maintained a cold shoulder to each other.
His teachers noted him for being quite smart, but disinterested in doing well in school. By the time he graduated high school, his grades were average, despite his moderate occupational assessment scores. He performed very high in the in person interviews, writing, and personality assessment, though his science, reading, and physical assessments left much to be desired. His scores came in very low, a black mark strong enough to cover what good scores he did receive. His apathy to his schooling created even more tension in the household, and Benedict was unable to move out like he had planned. His father would throw threats, and Benedict would argue while his mother sat idly by.
In college he grew a liking to literature but studied Psychology as per his career plan. Because his merit was so low, he was assigned to work in advertising, a job he doesn't particularly enjoy but has managed to show up to on time. He can't stand living with his parents, but the idea of marriage keeps his mouth shut.
