Science Is King

Science dictates lives: what you do, where you live, who you marry. It takes care of you, covers your bills, keeps you healthy, and all it asks in return is that you participate in a few experiments. Ridgeway has always been a control group, left mostly alone, but the Department of Science has been moving in, and everything is about to change.

Blessed are we who can laugh at ourselves, for we shall never cease to be amused.

GMT +1 + She/her

Two months and then some. They were still in the getting-to-know each other phase, the one where they would recommend old favorite books to each other and discuss them at length when they finished them. The one with a mixture of sofa-dates, and going out, and meeting each other’s families. Louis wasn’t entirely sure how her family liked him, but his own already adored her. Toussaint might have pondered upon Louis’ ability to get along with the new lady of his life, but so far things had been fairly smooth sailing.

Their home was taking shape too, with Georgiana leading the decoration for obvious reasons. In the beginning, in the flourish of picking out colors she had asked him which one he preferred. He’d jokingly said that he couldn’t tell the difference and it had been a cute little moments to look back on. He’d politely asked her to avoid sharp edges, given that he would absolutely be walking right into things for a while but other than that she’d had both their combined decorating budgets to work with and no one to tell her no.

With the foundation now laid, he could navigate their home only bumping into things on rare occasions when it was moved around. He’d had a short day at work today, they were doing maintance at the station and installing new equipment, meaning that their broadcasts today was pre-recorded and mostly music. He’d been in for a meeting with the rest of the crew, but there wasn’t a point in staying afterwards.

And alright some of it was possibly because he was at the last pages of a book Georgiana had recommended, and it cut off at the wrong moment when he arrived in the morning. He finished it in the cab on his way home, lightly whistling as he got through their front door.

Hi Hailey,” He hummed, unwrapping his scarf. He was greeted with a little giggle from the walls that had thoroughly creeped him out when they moved in, but was now part of their everyday.

    Hi Louis. Welcome home!

Thank you. Did Georgiana leave any messages before going off to work this morning?” Given their sometimes-staggered schedules, it was an easy way to leave each other a message, since it wasn’t like he could read something hung on the refrigerator.

Of course, instead of actually telling him, Hailey instead went into a very long rant about herself, her circuits, and how well she kept track of the messages. A very long, self-absorbed rant. Well, he should’ve known better, her other character trait being ditzy so the chance of her actually remembering something useful was unlikely.

He chose not to stay and listen, moving through the house to the living room, figuring it'd be awhile before Georgiana came home.

There are no shortcuts to any place worth going.

pst + She/her/hers

Georgie had spent the majority of her morning staring at a microphone until the director informed her that a couple of her co-workers were sick and wouldn't be coming in today. They had a couple more sessions to do but they couldn't be done without Howard and Stacy. The guest star was delayed as well as their plane was being kept in Oregon of all places so ultimately, it led to the director telling her she could head home early. She already done her solo sessions - her character's note to self segments so there really wasn't much else to do.

The car ride home was fairly quiet. The road itself was smooth, save for the pothole on ninth street. She hit every time without meaning too as it was right as she turned and she hadn't wanted to over correct. The unpleasant thud as her bum hit the car's seat again wasn't very reassuring. The remainder of the ride continued on and was altogether uneventful save for the minor traffic jam on third. Someone's car stalled again and she tried not to laugh when she drove by and saw who it was. Her boss. She waved as she drove past, wondering if his car was often like that. It already seemed like he was getting help too as he waved his cellphone like he did at work. It was probably his wife.

Soon she found her driveway and parked, noticing her husband's car was already there. That was odd, he wasn't home this early but then again, neither was she. Locking up, she soon shut the door and went inside the house, hearing Hailey greet her overhead. "Hi Hailey, I saw Louis' car in the driveway, where is he?" she asked before the AI replied. "Oh my gosh, don't start in on me too. You know he questioned me earlier -" Ah, so she was going to be unhelpful today. Removing her shoes, Georgie placed them on the shoe rack and placed her purse on the side table, she'd retrieve it later.

She moved swiftly to the living room, deciding to see if he was in here before noticing him in the room. "There you are. Hailey is ranting again." she murmured, though she wasn't worried about it. It was normal for the AI. Just last week she couldn't remember what Georgie had ordered and that led to a receipt hunt. She tried...somewhat. Georgie was curious about just how much but it probably wasn't worth stewing on. "You're home early too, huh?" she smiled as she approached. "A couple of my co-workers are out sick so there wasn't much for me to record." Sore throats were a killer in the voice acting business. Which was why Georgie kept a lot of tea in the house, that and usually smelled pretty great too. "How was your day?" she continued before settling onto the couch and hugging a couch pillow.
